Indo-Canadian Community Centre is hiring students for the summer 2018

Indo-Canadian Community Center (ICCC) has job opportunities for three (3) students during the summer starting as of Tuesday, the 3rd of July, 2018 for a 6 to 8 week term – 40 to 30 hours per week [for a maximum of 240 hours during the summer].

  1. Technology Assistant
  2. Administrative Assistant – Physical Hubs Project Committee 
  3. Administrative Assistant – ICCC Seniors group

The Job requirements are detailed below.

Qualifications: 

  • A full-time student between the ages 15 to 30 years during Sept 2017 to June 2018;
  • Will be returning to school in September 2018 on a full-time basis; and
  • A Canadian Citizen, permanent resident, or a person on whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act.

Wages: The wages are at the rate of $14.00 per hour + 4% Vacation Pay. The pay will be given bi-weekly after deducting income tax, UI and CPP at source.

Technology Assistant
Virtual Hub/Community Portal

Tasks & Responsibilities: 

  • WordPress website maintenance — create and modify pages, posts, photo galleries and videos, manage event calendar, publish community information, etc.;
  • Website backup and restore;
  • Organize and manage electronic filing and reference material and document digitization;
  • Manage Mailchimp — email lists, campaigns and reports;
  • Monitor and handle social media platforms (Facebook & Twitter);
  • Create and manage graphics,  brochures, pamphlets & documents; 
  • Find, organize, write up and publish community information on the website.

Skills: Technology savvy with proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook), email, and Internet browsing and searching. Excellent writing skills.

Desired level of Education of the Student: Post Secondary.

Field of Studies: Computer Science,  Computer Technology, Business Program, Social work

Admin Assistant
Physical Hubs Project Committee

Tasks & Responsibilities: 

  • Update website and email lists and maintain project documentation;
  • Create and monitor Facebook and Twitter accounts;
  • Handle inquiries and internal and external communications;
  • Deal with electronic and paper correspondence internally and externally;
  • Filing and organizing information and documents;
  • Coordinate and liaise events and communicate with participants; and
  • Communicate with the different internal and external stakeholders.

Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook), email, and Internet browsing and searching. Excellent communication skills both in person and over the phone.

Desired level of Education of the Student: Post Secondary.

Admin Assistant
Seniors Group

Tasks & Responsibilities: 

  • Organize and electronically catalog books, reference materials and digitize documents;
  • Update email lists and manage campaigns in Mailchimp; 
  • Create brochures, pamphlets & documents;
  • Assist in teaching seniors the relevant use of technology and help with Twitter, email & Facebook accounts;
  • Help with organizing festivals and other programs and keep track of resources and budgets, etc; 
  • Post senior events on the website;
  • Report on other events happening in the city that are relevant to the seniors.

Skills: Technology savvy with proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook), email, and Internet browsing and searching. Excellent communication and inter-personal skills.

Desired level of Education of the Student: Post Secondary.
