ICCC Leaders of Tomorrow Youth Scholarships - 2017
Deadline for Applications has been extended to January 31, 2018.
The Indo-Canadian Community Centre (ICCC) has established a scholarship program in the amount of $500 for undergraduate students. A minimum of four scholarships will be awarded.
The ICCC Leaders of Tomorrow Youth Scholarships will create awareness of ICCC’s social responsibility, attract youth to ICCC and recognize the excellence of students who have made a significant impact in the Ottawa community.
Leaders of Tomorrow Youth Scholarships
The Leaders of Tomorrow Youth Scholarships will be open to students of undergraduate degree or diploma programs of University of Ottawa, Carleton University, St. Paul University, Algonquin College, and La Cité collégiale, Ottawa. The winners will be determined on competitive evaluation of individual applications according to the following criteria:
- Academic achievement (based on three semesters’ academic performance)
- Involvement in community work and contribution to social causes
- Your awards, honours and other achievements
- Demonstrated leadership skills
- A personal statement highlighting the applicant’s impact in the Ottawa community
- Reference checks
Applicants for the scholarships must have completed at least one semester of the post-secondary/under-graduate program. The record of academic performance must be submitted along with transcripts for the current semester and if available, up to two semesters of the prior year.
A Scholarship Evaluation Committee comprised of three representatives of the Indo-Canadian community will evaluate all applications received in accordance with the scholarship criteria and recommend the winners based on merit. All applicants including the scholarship award winners may apply again next year.
ICCC Scholarship Fund
ICCC is initiating a special Scholarship Fund to fund this program. Scholarship donations are solicited from the local Indo-Canadian community and the broader Ottawa community. If you are interested in making a tax-deductible donation, please click here to donate to Scholarship Fund. We appeal for donations of $500, or a multiple of $500. Each scholarship awarded will be attributed to a donor.
The amount accumulated in the Scholarship Fund by December 31 will determine the number of the scholarships to be awarded each year. We count on community donations to honour deserving students with a token of the community appreciation.
