Indo-Canadian Community Centre hires students during the Summer 

Indo-Canadian Community Center (ICCC) has job opportunities for four (4) students during the summer, for 8 weeks full time (35 hours per week) or 16 weeks part time (17.5 hours per week).

  1. Administrative Assistant (4)

The Job requirements are detailed below.

Qualifications: 

  • A full-time student between the ages of 15 to 30 years during Sept of last year to June of this year;
  • Will be returning to school in September of this year on a full-time basis; and
  • A Canadian Citizen, permanent resident, or a person on whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act.

Application Details:

Wages: The wages are at the rate of $14.00 per hour + 4% Vacation Pay. The pay will be given bi-weekly after deducting income tax, UI and CPP at source.

Job Requirements

Administrative Assistant

Tasks & Responsibilities: 

  • Update website and email lists and maintain project documentation;
  • Create and monitor Facebook, Twitter and other social media accounts;
  • Handle inquiries and internal and external communications;
  • Apply for funds-grants to donor organizations;
  • Deal with electronic and paper correspondence internally and externally;
  • Filing and organizing information and documents;
  • Coordinate and liaise events and communicate with participants; and
  • Communicate with the different internal and external stakeholders.
  • WordPress website maintenance — create and modify pages, posts, photo galleries and videos, manage event calendar, publish community information, etc.;
  • Website backup and restore;
  • Organize and manage electronic filing and reference material and document digitization;
  • Manage Mailchimp — email lists, campaigns and reports;
  • Find, organize, write up and publish community information on the website.
  • Organize and electronically catalog books, reference materials and digitize documents;
  • Create brochures, pamphlets & documents;
  • Assist in teaching seniors and members the relevant use of technology and help with Twitter, email & Facebook accounts;
  • Help with organizing festivals and other programs and keep track of resources and budgets, etc. 
  • Post seniors events on the website;
  • Report on other events happening in the city that are relevant to the seniors.
  • Survey, Assessment, report writing and presentation.

Skills: 

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), email, and Internet browsing and searching.
  • Program Evaluation, grant application, report writing and presentation.
  • Technology savvy with proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook), email, and Internet browsing and searching. Excellent writing skills.
  • Excellent communication and inter-personal skills.

Desired level of Education of the Student: Post Secondary

  • Computer Science and Computer Technology, Social Work, Environment, History, Political Science, Business Programs.
