Dear Friends,
ICCC Charity & Philanthropy Program:
  1. COVID-19 PANDEMIC CRISIS IN INDIA – An Appeal to Indo-Canadians to Donate Generously

The Indo-Canadian Community Centre is thankful to the Ottawa community for supporting the “ICCC COVID-19 Pandemic Crisis in India – An Appeal to Indo-Canadians to Donate Generously” and generously donating for this urgently needed Humanitarian cause.

  • ICCC has collected over $14,000 directly to-date for sending to EKAL Canada, as mentioned in its earlier Communique #26. The first installment of $10,000 to EKAL has already been transferred.
  • The severe 2nd wave Covid-19 crisis in India, impacting many in Ottawa’s Indo-Canadian community in numerous ways, has raised donations from ICCC life members, its associates, and others in Ottawa.

ICCC is pleased to share with you the following information available to date, solely with an objective that you may reach out to your contacts and encourage additional donations for the Covid-19 crisis in India:

– Rupees 500,000 cheque and over $20,000 donated via EKAL
– Over $5500 donated via Red Cross
– Other significant amounts donated via Sewa, Toronto and numerous other charities mentioned in Communique #26.

Donations in Indian rupees have also been made by many in our community to charities including Shaheed Bhagat Singh Sewa Dal, New Delhi (assisting in cremation of Covid infected bodies – see http://www.sbsfoundation.org/. Only rupees donation accepted) and various other individually known charities providing much needed services during this crisis in India.

‘Giving Back to the Community’ is a cherished value of our rich Indian heritage. The Indo-Canadian Community Centre is committed to campaigning for the COVID-19 Relief Funds. We must all rise to give generously to ‘HELP HUMANITY’ against the ‘WRATH of CORONA’. The need for funds is urgent and ICCC kindly appeals to all for continuing with their generous donations to help our brethren so that they can effectively deal with the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic in India.

  1. ICCC – University of Ottawa Brain and Mind Research Institute (uOBMRI) Collaboration:

ICCC is continuing its ongoing collaboration with uOBMRI, and will match a generous donation to uOBMRI, via ICCC, of $10,000 by one of its life members. You are kindly requested to register for the uOMBRI virtual “Tea Time with the Docs” event on May 28th at 2:00 pm. This educational fundraising event, moderated by CTV Ottawa’s Leanne Cusack, is an opportunity to meet some of Canada’s most inspiring international leaders in brain disease research, learn strategies to enhance cognition, and discover the POWER of your brain. The presentations include:
