Dear Friends,

You will be pleased to know that ICCC’s high priority, the ICCC Youth Program, is gaining popularity among the Indian diasporas. This active participation of younger generations, both from the established Indo-Canadian community and the ever-growing number of students coming from India to Canada for studies and other opportunities, is essential for accomplishing ICCC’s vision, mission, and mandate.

ICCC Youth Program Objectives:
These include:

  • To enable Indo-Canadian youth to discover their roots and appreciate their rich Indian heritage, culture, and values.
  • To assist an ever-increasing number of youth/students coming from India (over 200,000) to properly settle and integrate in the new society – Canada.
  • To enhance Canada’s multicultural values.

ICCC Youth Program Progress:
ICCC’s training and apprenticeship opportunities, provided under the guidance of the Board and Program Chairs (e.g., seniors program), for students recruited under various programs (Canada Summer Jobs, Universal College, Gatineau Field Practicum, high school volunteer work hours) have resulted in accomplishments including:

  • Development of a Youth Directory (100+)
  • Youth participation in ICCC’s existing programs (learning at weekly seniors’ meetings)
  • Youth planned and implemented meetings, presentations to learn and promote rich Indian heritage, values, and culture (dance, music, cuisine, quizzes, etc.)
  • Essays regarding India’s contributions and cultural values
  • ICCC Resource Guide for New International Students – A Pathway to Integrate and Flourish in the National Capital Region
  • ICCC Resource Guide on TR2PR – A Guided Journey from Temporary Residency to Permanent Residency in Canada.

Please visit our ICCC Portal & website at https://icccottawa.org/ for further details regarding the ICCC Youth Program and numerous other initiatives, platforms, and opportunities for bringing the community together in a family-friendly manner.
