ICCC COVID-19 Relief Fund Media Release – May 30, 2020

MEDIA ANNOUNCEMENT – 30th May 2020

  1. The Indo-Canadian Community Centre would like to congratulate and thank all those who have, to date, generously:
  2. Donated over $62,000 for its “ICCC COVID-19, and
  • Provided several “in-kind” contributions, such as:

* Stitching of over 1500 face masks and gowns for front line workers and the community at large.

*Over 450 meals (lunch & dinner -Indian cuisine) for frontline medical staff of all Ottawa Hospitals.

  1. ICCC COVID-19 RELIEF FUND” is for the four charities namely:
  • The Ottawa Hospital,
  • Shepherds of Good Hope,
  • Ottawa Food Bank and
  • The Ottawa Mission,
  1. ICCC’s initial donation of $15,000 to the Ottawa Hospital Foundation is being multiplied & matched by the generosity of many others: FACES Magazine, Ottawa Hospital, Mirren family of Ottawa and Nanji family from Toronto.
  1. ICCC’s initial donation to the Ottawa Food bank next week will also be matched by Malhotra family of Ottawa.

ICCC is requesting all in the community to come forward and donate generously for this worthy cause.

You can channel your donation via ICCC or directly to the Ottawa Food Bank and inform ICCC of your donation.

  1. ICCC is earnestly appealing to all, and would welcome you to join and become a part of the “ICCC Virtual Community Centre” to jointly create awareness of the contributions by the Indo-Canadian community in Ottawa.

“GREAT THINGS HAPPEN WHEN WE ALL WORK TOGETHER”

  1. ICCC Seniors Virtual Zoom meetings are now attended by More than 80 seniors every Thursday (2:00-3:30 p.m. and Friday (10:00 a.m.-12:00 noon). There meetings, in a very social and informative setting, provide  Yoga session, talks by invited guests and socializing by seniors by way of singing songs and Bhajans, jokes and anecdotes

ICCC encourages other seniors to join in to relieve from isolation boredom and loneliness.

  1. EKAL Vidyalaya: ICCC has also donated $25,500 to EKAL Vidyalaya in India to fund 4 life time schools for children, as well as for anemia treatment for 400 women under “Arogya Program” in Kerala.
