You will be pleased to know that the ICCC Youth Program is growing stronger with your cooperation and support. The highlights of some initiatives are provided below for your kind review, valuable feedback, and wide dissemination among your contacts.

ICCC Youth – Summer Jobs Program
ICCC will once again provide opportunities for summer jobs to students during 2023. Additional details to benefit from this opportunity, supported by the Canada Summer Jobs (CSJ) Program, will soon be available on the ICCC Portal & Website: www.icccottawa.org.

ICCC Youth Mentorship & Networking Program
The Indo-Canadian Community Centre (ICCC) has arranged a convenient meeting facility for the youth for:
- social gathering and networking to promote India’s rich heritage, cultural values, and traditions; and
- scheduled monthly mentorship seminars/workshops from experienced and established community professionals with an objective to assist youth to achieve social, educational and career goals.
Note: ICCC will greatly appreciate cooperation and assistance from experienced and established community professionals who are willing to volunteer and provide ongoing guidance/mentorship to college/university students for educational and career development.

ICCC Youth Program – Significant Accomplishments
- Lifestyle for Environment Presentations (Mission LiFE 2023): As part of the ICCC Youth Program, eight students made presentations on various topics pertaining to Lifestyle For Environment (LiFE) at the High Commission of India’s “Mission LiFE” Event on March 16, 2023. Please click on “ICCC Mission LiFE” for additional information and participation in future presentations for environment protection – our much-cherished Indian values.
- ICCC Resource Guides, PPT Presentations & Essays: ICCC Youth Program has developed numerous Resource Guides, Essays and PPT presentations to enhance awareness about India’s festivals, rich heritage, cultural values & traditions, and importantly to enable integration of a growing number of students from India in the Canadian society.
- For International Students:
- The “ICCC Resource Guide for New International Students from India” provides Indian students (over 200,000 to Canada in 2022) with information and resources to adjust and integrate in the society when they arrive in Ottawa. This ICCC Resource Guide has already been customized for use in other cities and by other organizations.
- The “ICCC Resource Guide on TR2PR” provides information to an international student on how to become a permanent resident in Canada.

GOING FORWARD:
ICCC Youth – “Inter-Generation Connect (Gen-Con) Program”:
Inter-Generation Connect (Gen-Con) is a planned new ICCC initiative that focusses on social services and education. ICCC’s Gen-Con initiative is to connect and integrate international students with the community in the Greater Ottawa region. It will allow students and the community (specifically retired/senior professionals), with exchange of energies and for mutually beneficial purposes such as, but not limited to, proper settlement, career guidance, gainful employment, Canadian work culture and ethics, helping seniors utilize their own energy, experience, and feel fulfilled.
Additional information about this upcoming program will become available soon on the ICCC website.

Since 1973, ICCC’s endeavours have been to serve Ottawa’s Indo-Canadian community and to preserve and enhance India’s rich heritage, cultural values, and traditions. Changing times obligated ICCC‘s mandatory adjustments to the emergence of realities such as many India-Centric organizations, new demography, technology, internet, social media, etc. Consequently, from 2017 onwards, ICCC articulated its new directions and a modus-operandi which promotes its vision, mission and strategy involving providing platforms, opportunities, and a variety of community inspired/supported programs and services – all undertaken with an objective to synergize and bringing the community together in various celebrations promoting both India’s rich heritage, cultural values, and traditions and strengthen Canada’s multicultural values and mosaic.

The Indo-Canadian community is blessed and richly endowed individually in all walks of life. However, the collective impact in the mainstream must be enhanced. Please come forward with your suggestions, encourage your network of contacts to join/support/partner with ICCC in various initiatives to celebrate Indo-Canadian contributions, raise the community profile, and jointly accomplish ICCC’s Vision: “A United Indo-Canadian Community Thriving in The Canadian Mainstream.”
