Inputs for Information on India in Canadian Curriculum

Dear Friends,

It is our endeavour to create a better understanding of India, its traditions, its customs and culture, among the Canadians and Indo-Canadians. In this connection, we have started an exercise to map how India is being represented across schools/colleges/universities in Canada and seek your inputs on how information about India, its history, culture and people is found in texts and text books in middle, upper and high school curriculum as also in texts and reference books in colleges and universities curriculum.

We are approaching you for your valuable insights since you may have children studying in Canadian schools/colleges/universities or may be teachers or members of schools & educational boards or have good contacts among the education fraternity here. Inputs on any reference to India’s history, political system, economy, political economy, socio-religious movements, constitution and constitutional processes, Parliamentary and legal system, science, technology, IT, educational system, our ancient medicinal & scientific system, issues of discrimination, family and community matters, references to our important personalities like Gandhi, Tagore etc. as they appear in Canadian text books or syllabus may kindly be shared with us.

In case you notice any reference that present a distorted or non-factual representation of India, the same may also be shared with us.

We shall greatly appreciate if these inputs are shared with us by 21st September 2020.

Warm regards,

Sunil Kumar Sharma
